The Community Foundation of Halton North (CFHN) announced its first grants at a celebration event on November 17, 2015.  This announcement comes a full year ahead of schedule for the Foundation.  CFHN also announced that it has almost reached the $1 million mark in endowments, meaning that more grants will be given back into the community in 2016.

“The Community Foundation of Halton North’s vision is to grant back into the communities which make up North Halton and I am thrilled that the Foundation is now in a position to realize its mission.” stated Brad Clements, Chair of CFHN

For this first round of granting, fund holders worked closely with the Foundation’s staff and grants committee to decide this year’s grant recipients.  Grants were awarded to:  Links2Care, a dynamic and innovative organization that supports and links people of all ages to community programs and services in Halton Hills; Community Living North Halton an organization that supports individuals with special needs throughout Halton North; and, Townsend Smith Foundation whose vision is a community where every individual has access to dignified and caring end of life journey.

“We are pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s Donor Designated Funds and congratulate them for their work in the community of Halton North. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our fundholders for their contributions to make this possible. “Linda Bischoff, Chair of the Grants Committee

CFHN is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, representatives across the communities that make up Halton North.  Today, there are 191 community foundations in cities, towns and rural areas across Canada. These locally-run, public foundations play a critical role supporting community groups. Last year they provided $189 million to local charitable causes across the country.

The Foundation is in its final year of a three-year start up grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.  For more information, please contact Sue Lawrenson, Executive Director at 905-864-9211 or visit www.cfhn.ca
